The journey of Deep-Tech innovation is never a straight line; it is a series of milestones that transform scientific vision into industrial value. For Magys Drive, the past few months have marked the definitive transition from laboratory to market, consolidating a company ready to redefine the standards of robotics and industrial automation.

A Solid Foundation: Incorporation and Pre-Seed Round

Our journey as a corporate entity officially began last December with the incorporation of Magys Drive S.r.l. This ambitious entrepreneurial project grew from an idea conceived within The BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and was further validated through a funded PoC (Proof of Concept).

Our launch was immediately market-validated by the closing of a pre-seed investment round led by Pariter Partners and RoboIT (the National Technology Transfer Hub for Robotics promoted by CDP Venture Capital SGR). This is a strong signal that confirms the solidity of our magnetic mechatronic transmission technology.

February 2026: The Seal of Excellence as a Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Spin-off

To crown this accelerated start, we reached a fundamental strategic goal last February: Magys Drive officially became a Spin-off company of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

This recognition represents the ideal bridge between Italian research excellence and the demands of Industry 5.0.

“Becoming a spin-off of Scuola Sant’Anna is not just a formal milestone; it is a promise to keep scientific rigor at the heart of our industrial growth,” says Andrea Baldoni, CEO of Magys Drive. “True innovation in power transmission has been stagnant for decades. We were born to intervene in this sector, transforming years of research into a magnetic technology capable of eliminating friction and redefining operational costs for companies.”

Under the leadership of co-founders Andrea Baldoni (Eng.), Andrea Pergolini (Eng.), Emilio Trigili (Eng.), and Mary Gianfreda (Market & Positioning), Magys Drive draws on a unique ecosystem of expertise:

  • Scientific Support: Prof. Nicola Vitiello and Prof. Simona Crea.
  • Expertise & Strategy: A high-level team including Arturo Baroncelli and Elisa Grassi, whose contribution is instrumental in transforming intellectual property into a scalable industrial reality.

The Technology: Beyond Mechanical Friction

Why does the market believe in Magys Drive? We address the inefficiencies of traditional mechanics by offering contactless magnetic transmissions:

  • Zero Friction: We leverage magnetic interaction to eliminate mechanical wear and drastically reduce friction.
  • Integrated Intelligence: We bring control directly to the heart of motion transfer through advanced integrated sensing.
  • Versatility: Solutions designed for robotics and industrial automation across Green Tech, Food, Pharma & Packaging, Marine, and Automotive sectors.

Toward New Horizons

Building on our success at Start Cup Toscana and PNICube 2025, we are already working to accelerate product industrialization and launch our first collaborations with industry leaders.

Our mission is clear: to move the future with a technology that is not only innovative but inherently more durable and intelligent.
